How to start a small VPN reseller business

A realistic guide to VPN service credits, pricing, customer support and the responsibilities of a reseller.

A VPN reseller buys service credits in bulk and sells access to their own customers. It can add a recurring service to an existing IT, mobile or online business, but the margin is earned by providing clear sales information and dependable customer support — not by making exaggerated promises.

Key points

  • One VersusVPN reseller credit provides one month of service for one customer.
  • Set a retail price that covers support, payment fees and refunds as well as the credit.
  • Keep accurate customer, credit and activation records from the first sale.

Understand the credit model

VersusVPN reseller packs contain 50, 100, 150 or 200 credits. One credit activates one month of service for one end customer. Larger packs have a lower per-credit price, which gives an established reseller more room for support costs and margin.

Credits are a business purchase and are not the same as a personal VPN subscription. Review the reseller terms, including acceptable use and the treatment of unused credits, before ordering.

Price the whole service

The difference between the credit cost and retail price is not pure profit. Allow for card fees, time spent answering questions, marketing, customer acquisition and occasional refunds or goodwill credits.

Choose a simple price customers can understand. Avoid lifetime promises or guarantees about speed, streaming access or total anonymity that the underlying service does not make.

Plan onboarding and support

Decide who sends credentials, where customers find downloads and how they request help. A short activation template and device checklist save time while reducing mistakes. Store credentials securely and never send passwords to anyone other than the intended customer.

  • Collect the customer's correct email address
  • Record activation and expiry dates
  • Explain supported devices and the six-connection limit
  • Escalate service faults with useful diagnostics, never customer passwords

Start at a manageable size

A 50-credit pack is a practical starting point for a new reseller. Test the panel, activation workflow and support messages with a small number of customers before committing to a larger volume.

VersusVPN collects contact and business information during reseller checkout so the reseller panel can be created manually. Existing panel holders can provide their panel username to have new credits applied to the right account.

Keep the protection in perspective. A VPN is one useful privacy and security layer. Keep devices updated, use unique passwords and multi-factor authentication, and remain cautious with unexpected messages.
